Issue with 2014 Junior Races
It was with great excitement that we received the news that USAC was lowering the race age to nine years old, but the fallout with promoters was unanticipated. In response to the new rule allowing eight year olds who will be turning nine in the calendar year to race, promoters have dropped all junior races from their events. Obviously, this is a devastating decision for our junior program. I have emailed FBRA's Junior Director, Steve Mlujeak and this was his response,
Hello Mark, and thank you for the email.
Yes, the FBRA is concerned and working on it, we are reaching out to the promoters and seeing if they will add junior's to their races, as well as looking at what the FBRA can do to assist in getting more opportunities for juniors to race. Down here in South Florida, I'm working on getting a junior series attached to our criterium series. I also spoke with the promoters of delray as they too had no junior races offered. Yet they have three master categories. I think we will get them to add events for Juniors. I hope we can get other promoters to do the same. So, as it sits right now our official REV race schedule is in shambles:
Steve Mlujeak
- March 22-23
Perry Roubaix, Perry,GA
- dropped juniors
- April 5-6 Brooksville Classic, Brooksville, GA
- Removed
- May 17-18 - SRS Albany, Albany, GA
- dropped juniors
- June 14-15 - Ride for Hope or Ocala Race
- (To be determined)
- September 13-14 - Pensacola Cycling Classic, Pensacola, FL
- (To be determined)
- May 31st - Florida State Road Championships,
Clermont, FL
- This race has been moved to Stuart in Martin County in South Florida and they have dropped juniors
Kelly and I are contacting race directors, FBRA and USAC representatives to figure out what we can do. I am very sorry about the confusion and the disruption to our planned REV schedule. We are actively working on it and will hopefully have a new schedule soon.

2014 Spring Fling of Cycling Race Wrap-Up
I wasn't there, but here are the stories and results I was able to collect.
Jason 31st after just sitting in because of being sick all week; nuff said.
There was a big pile-up in crash5 taking half the peloton out, Dan and Davis fortunately did not get caught up in it. Here is the video of the crash and the finish, staring Dan Korecky.
Dan Korecky 4th missing the podium by a half a wheel, which is not bad for a mountain biker :-)
Davis Bell flatted.

Saturday
Connor Everett dominated the day with two 1st place finishes in the 15-16 road race and time trial.
Sunday
Cat 1/2
Jamey Thompson finished 5th in what sounds like a competitive race with several breaks and lots of strategic moves. After hearing about the race from Jamey, I think once Donny and Jamey are able to work together, we should get some podiums in the future.
Cat 3
Cat 4
Brian Sciba 6th and Connor Everett 9th in a field sprint. Brian whose strength is getting in strategic breakaways said that no legitimate breakaway ever attacked, so he took his chances in the sprint with pretty good results. Connor who dominates in the sprint got boxed in and had to settle for 9th after being on top of the podium all weekend. You'll get them next time Tally Tiger.

RedEye Velo winter training ride at Ricky Carmichael's motocross track
Thanks Pete Butler for shooting and sharing this part of the ride. I believe RedEye Velo is going to dominate this year because we are going to train as a team and race as team.

Connor Takes Top Spot
Connor Everett sets the pace for RedEye Velo today with a 1st place finish today at Deleon Road Race.
He also crushed the rest of the field this afternoon in the TT wth an average watts of 275. When you tip the scale at about 110 pounds that is 5.5 watts per kilo!
1.25.14 Ride
If you are not racing this weekend, please join Don Autore
and I for hard efforts on this loop:
This is a 23.5 mile loop, on roads with very little traffic.
We plan to do two laps. If you are interested, please join us at
the normal meet up place on Kerry Forest at 10:30 am.
We'll ride north and start at the Meridian start point
location just north of the Florida-Georgia state line.
Who's in?
Pete
